The Origin of the Haunted Trail

1988

In 1988, a group of friends from the Cincinnati area decided to throw the largest free Halloween Party anyone around here had ever seen.

It began with six people: John and Teri, Rick, Andy, Chuck and Jim. The first year was a little rough, however we scrounged up enough of our friends to successfully scare our unsuspecting guests.

This was the brain child of Teri, and she envisioned a terrifying trail though the "Haunted Woods" with an array of chills and thrills. The trail would be marked with  Jack-O-Lanterns, the occasional fire pit and the moon peaking through the tops of trees. As the guests emerged fully frightened out of their wits, plenty of food, roasted hot dogs and other goodies would help bring the life back into them. And for those who lost any bodily fluids while amongst the garish ghouls, (or anyone else who had thirst), drinks to replenish, including an open bar and of course the biggest fire we could put together. ALL FOR FREE!

Well, to make a long story short, we pulled it off! And from there it grew. . .and grew BIG. In order to manage the guest list, and give the trail time to recover, we have chosen to take every fifth year off. Those enjoying the festivities have numbered over one hundred, and the preparation pumpkin carving stretches over two days. This site is a reflection on just how much of a tradition this has become.

As always we found a few hatched plans, and others have joined our crew. Though not always physically there for fright, we are always there in spirit.

So enjoy good friends, enjoy this site. Please offer any stories you may recall. And for those of you, somewhere out there . . . who are we, who are you?

We now meet,

so BOOOOOOO!
